Aesthetic restoration is reproducing of natural tooth form, its color, transparency and other optical and physical properties by means of modern filling materials. Nowadays dentists have various materials and technologies that allow to imitate original appearance of natural tooth. During restoration a doctor becomes an artist and a sculptor of your smile. Artistic restoration can be made by two methods: direct (filling) and indirect (prosthetics).
Direct artistic restoration is held directly in the mouth cavity. Inflicting a layer of restoration material after a layer, a doctor-restorer designs a new tooth.
The indirect technique of artistic restoration implies making of veneers (protective onlays), inlays or crowns in the special laboratory and their setting over a tooth.
We recommend direct aesthetic restorations in next cases:
- defect of tooth that is a result of caries or uncarious defeats appeared on the stage of tooth forming and development;
- traumas of teeth;
- necessity in tooth size and position correction or closing of odontoschisms;
- visible violations of enamel structure (spots, erosions), local discoloration of tooth.
Before the beginning of procedure a doctor will select the color of filling material ideally combining with the color of Your teeth, and also will anaesthetize a tooth. Thus, during direct restoration (stopping) the specialists of our clinic always maximally save the tooth tissues unchanged by a cariosity, taking away only nonviable tissues in defect area. For this purpose we use the “detector of caries” – special dye showing up on the pathologically changed tooth tissues.
For an artistic restoration in our clinic we always use only modern, reliable and colour stable photo resin materials. They are easy to polish and remain stable to abrasion and food colourants. An enamel and dentine of tooth are restored by different hardness and transparency restoration materials maximally similar on mechanical and visual properties with tooth tissues, thereby restoring the structure of tooth layer-by-layer.
Indirect restorations
Ceramic veneers is one of the last achievements of modern aesthetic stomatology. Interestingly, that exactly due to them we have an expression “the Hollywood smile”.
Veneers are ceramic plates ( approximately 0.5 mm in thickness) that are glued on the front tooth surface. It helps to avoid removing away of a tooth nerve. Teeth remain “alive” and look splendid!
Indications to use of veneers are:
- old inlays different in color from a normal tooth;
- cracks and chips of tooth;
- intervals between teeth (diastemas);
- clinoid defects;
- effaced dentition;
- violations of tooth form ;
- distorted and displaced teeth;
- defects of tooth colour.
The process of ceramic veneers making requires at least two visits to stomatologist and can be made during 1-2 weeks. During the first visit a doctor will prepare a tooth professionally, will do impression, select a necessary tint and set a temporal veneer. During the second visit the temporal veneer will be deleted and intreplaced with a permanent porcelain veneer. The care of the restored teeth is the same with an ordinary everyday care.
Smile as much as possible and always remember the words of favourite baron Munchausen: “The serious face is not a sign of mind. The greatest nonsenses on the Earth were accomplished exactly with this expression of a face”.Just Smile!
